Bill Castle

October 21, 1945 - January 24, 2023

William “Bill” H. Castle, Sr., 77, of Pittsford, NY, transitioned on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 in Rochester, NY. Bill Castle was born in New Orleans, LA to Curvin and Riffie Castle on October 21, 1945. He was the third of ten children. He attended St. Lucy Catholic School and graduated in 1962. He earned a Bachelor of Art degree in French from Benedictine College in Atchison, KS in 1966 and a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Memphis, Memphis, TN in 1970.


Bill worked for the Xerox Corporation for 47 years and prior to retiring, he was the Chief Diversity Officer and Vice President of Human Resource Process Effectiveness. Bill was an avid walker, golfer, and researcher of his family history. He gave back to his community by participating on not-for profit boards, being an active member in his church, Immaculate Conception, and a member of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated - Gamma Iota Boule.


Bill Castle is survived by his wife, Musette Castle of Pittsford, NY; children, Kathryn (Tony Kinslow), William (Tedisa), and Carole (Dameion Stanley); grandchildren, Kaila Knight, Kelvin Knight, Jr., L. Connor Castle McClinton, and Jayson Gray; brother, Donald (Cynthia); sisters, Carolyn (Carlus) Carter, Paulette Lay, Roslyn Nixon, Clara Barabin; mother-in-law, Marie Jordan, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Louis, Joseph, Isaac, and Curvin, Jr.


The funeral service will be held at Immaculate Conception/St. Bridget’s Church, in Rochester, NY on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. Visitation with the family will be held from 10 am to 12 pm at the church, followed by Mass at 12 pm. The service may also be viewed via Live Stream at https://immaculateconceptionrochester.org.


Burial will take place in Houma, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Joseph’s Neighborhood Center, 417 South Avenue, Rochester, NY 14620 (sjncenter.org).
